Williams Sixth, Alvernia Seventh at Arcadia Invitational

Fleetwood, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2004) - Alvernia Men's Golf finished in seventh place at the Arcadia Invitational following a team score of 311 on day two of the invitational at Golden Oaks Golf Club on Monday. 

The Golden Wolves finished with a two-day total of 623 and had a one stroke improvement as a team from day one to day two. But, the Golden Wolves dropped from fourth to seventh after the second day of action in the field of nine teams.

Drew University took first place with a two-day team total of 574, which was good for 2-under par. The Rangers shot 4-under as a team on Monday with a round two score of 284.

Drew's Elliot Parker ran away with the individual title with a two-day total of 9-under 135. Parker shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday and followed that with a 4-under 68 on Monday.

Shawn Williams was Alvernia's top finisher with a two-day total of 147 to finish at +3 and in a tie for sixth place. Williams fired an even par 72 on Monday, a three-stroke improvement from day one. After making the turn at 3-over, Williams quickly got two strokes back with birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. He also birdied the 17th and finished the back nine with a 3-under 33 for his round of 72. 

Jackson Hoovler finished second for Alvernia and in eighth place overall with a two-day total of 148 Hoovler shot a 2-over 74 on Monday to match his round of 2-over 74 on Sunday. Hoovler was off to a great start and made the turn at 2-under following seven pars and birdies on the 5th and 7th holes. But, he found trouble on the back nine and moved back to 3-over on his round through the 17th hole. Hoovler was able to birdie the 18th to get a stroke back and finish his day at 2-over.

Matthew Gagliardi finished in third for Alvernia and T-31 overall with a two-day total of 162. Gagliardi matched his first round with another 81 on Monday. His round was highlighted by nine pars and a birdie on the 11th. 

Jakob Chapman rounded out Alvernia's counting scores with a two-day total of 166 for 41st place. Chapman fired an 84 on day two. His round was highlighted by a birdie on the 3rd hole and eight pars on his day.

Kenton Lightburn was Alvernia's fifth score of the day. Lightburn shot an 85 on day two for a two-day total of 171 to finish in 44th place. Lightburn's round was highlighted by nine pars, including a stretch of five straight on the front nine. 

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday for day one of the McDaniel College Invitational at Waynesboro Country Club.
