Golden Wolves, Boreman Complete Comeback at Golden Oaks to Take First

Fleetwood, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Golf and graduate student McKylie Boreman completed a round two comeback as both the Golden Wolves and Boreman won the Arcadia Invitational on Monday afternoon at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Alvernia improved its day one team score by seven strokes and posted a 307 on day two for a two-day total of 622. The Golden Wolves edged out Marymount by one stroke. The Saints had a six stroke lead after day one, but Marymount posted a 314 on day two. 

While Alvernia only beat out Marymount by one stroke, both the Golden Wolves and Saints ran away from the remaining three teams in the field of five. Alvernia beat out Bloomsburg, who finished in third, by 65 strokes. 

McKylie Boreman also took first place on a back-nine match of cards after tying Marymount's Noelle Jensen with a two-day total of 147. Jensen had a 3-stroke lead after round one, but posted a 76 on day two while Boreman posted a 73. On the match of cards, Boreman was 1-under on day two on the back nine, and Jensen was 3-over.

Boreman improved from her first round by one stroke. Boreman was 1-under through four holes following a birdie on the 2nd. But, she carded an eight on the par five 5th hole before picking a stroke back up with a birdie on the 6th hole. Boreman made the turn at 2-over and moved to 3-over with a bogey on the 11th. Boreman then played her final stretch of seven holes at 2-under following five pars and birdies on the 13th and 17th holes. 

Emmerson Bartley finished in second for Alvernia and t-4th overall. Bartley carded a 78 on day two for a two-day total of 158. Bartley was 5-over through her first 12 holes, but birdied the 13th hole to pick a stroke back up. She doubled the 14th hole, but picked a stroke back up with a birdie on 17. Bartley finished her round with a bogey on 18, but still had a two-stroke improvement from day one.

Cassidy Miksich finished in third for Alvernia and in seventh overall. She posted a 78 on day two for a two-day total of 159 and a three stroke improvement from day one. Miksich had four pars and birdies on the 4th and 7th holes on the front nine. She added five more pars on the back nine for her round of 78.

Rylee Stenzel finished in fourth for Alvernia and in 14th overall with a two-day total of 167. She posted an 87 on day two. Stenzel's round was highlighted by six pars and a birdie on the 14th hole.

Katie Lapinsky's round two score was Alvernia's fourth counting score on day two as she joined Bartley and Miksich with second rounds of 78. Lapinsky finished in 15th place overall and had a 12-stroke improvement from day one to day two for a two-day total of 169. Lapinsky had 11 pars on her round two and also birdied the 5th hole.

Grace Spielman finished in sixth for Alvernia and in 16th overall with a two-day total of 172. Spielman posted a career-low 82 on day two for an eight stroke improvement from day one. Spielman's round was highlighted by nine pars.

Paige Damon finished in seventh for Alvernia and T-23rd overall with a two-day total of 182. Damon posted a 90 on day two for a two-stroke improvement from day one. Her day was highlighted by nine pars.

Autumn Wolf finished in seventh for Alvernia and in 32nd overall with a two-day total of 199. She posted a 97 on day two for a five-stroke improvement from day one. Wolf pared two holes to highlight her round.

Alvernia is back in action on Sunday for the first day of the two-day Kutztown Invitational at Moselem Springs.
