Champs! Alvernia Repeats as MAC Women’s Golf Champions, Punches Ticket to NCAA Division III Championship

Five Earn All-Conference, O’Connell Earns Second Consecutive Coach of the Year Honor

Fleetwood, Pa. (April 27, 2025)  - Alvernia Women's Golf took home the MAC Women's Golf Championship Title for the second straight year, as the Golden Wolves took first place in a down-to-the-wire finish on Sunday evening at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Leading by five strokes entering Sunday, Alvernia saw that lead disappear to York College as the field battled cold and windy conditions to start the day. As Alvernia and York made the turn at nine, the Spartans had taken over the lead and held a six shot advantage on the Golden Wolves. With about four holes to play, Alvernia was back within a couple of strokes. Then, with McKylie Boreman on the 16th green and Emmerson Bartley on the 18th green, Alvernia retook the lead as Boreman and Bartley each sank lengthy putts.

Alvernia held onto its two shot lead as Katie Lapinsky and Boreman hit the 18th hole. Lapinsky converted a par putt to secure Alvernia's two shot advantage with one golfer to finish. Boreman, along with her playing partner from York, each bogeyed the 18th to keep Alvernia's advantage at two to secure the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Championship for the Golden Wolves.

Katie Lapinsky was the top-finisher of the tournament for Alvernia, posting a two-day total of 155 to take third place honors. Lapinsky shot a 76 on day two for Alvernia, improving her score by three strokes from day one. Lapinsky played the front nine at 4-over before playing the back nine at even. She carded birdies on the par four 12th following a great second shot out of the rough, and had her second birdie of the round on the par three 15th after converting a lengthy putt. Lapinsky earned First Team All-MAC honors for her performance.

McKylie Boreman finished second for Alvernia and fifth overall with a two-day score of 157. Boreman was 7-over on the front nine before  getting back on track on the back. Boreman used a par on the 12th and back-to-back pars on 14 and 15 to settle. She then converted a 25 foot putt on the 16th hole to grab a crucial stroke for the team score. She finished out her round with a par on the 17th and bogey on the 18th. Boreman earned First Team All-MAC honors for her performance.

Finishing in third for Alvernia and in sixth overall was Cassidy Miksich. Miksich posted a two-day score of 158. Miksich had Alverna's low round of the front nine on Sunday, making the turn at 3-over with six pars through some of the windiest and coldest conditions of the day. Miksich closed out her back nine with four more pars, including a crucial make on 17 to keep Alvernai within striking distance of the team title. Miksich earned Second Team All-MAC honors for her performance.

Emmerson Bartley finished ninth overall and in fourth for Alvernia. Bartley posted an 83 on day two for two-day total of 164. Bartley posted an 8-over on the front nine with three pars. She then closed out her round at 3-over on the back nine and made a pivotal 70 foot birdie putt on the 18th to close out her round of 83. Bartley earned Second Team All-MAC honors for her performance.

Rylee Stenzel finished fifth for Alvernia and in a tie for 10th overall with a two-day total 165. Stenzel finished her day with three pars on the front nine and another four on the back nine. She made a birdie putt on the 15th, which began the upswing for Alvernia retaking the lead. Stenzel earned Second Team All-MAC honors for her performance.
