Hoovler Leads Alvernia on Day One of the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf Championships

Fleetwood, Pa (May 3, 2025) - Jackson Hoovler fired in a three under 69 on day one of the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships to lead Alvernia University Saturday afternoon at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Hoovler's three under 69 ties his career low round after he posted a 69 at Waynesboro Country Club at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic. Hoovler is also in the lead by one stroke after day one of the tournament.

Hoovler carded seven birdies on the day but also carded four bogeys which saw him post the three under score of 69. Hoovler also recorded seven pars on the day and his seven birdies was the most birdies by an individual in round one.

Shawn Williams posted the second best round for the Golden Wolves and carded a day one score of 76 and is currently in a tie for 11th. Williams posted one birdie and 12 pars but three bogeys on the back nine saw him card a 76 on the day.

Matthew Gagliardi carded a 79 on the first day of the tournament and is in a tie for 20th place. Galiardi birdied the first and the fourth holes and eight pars but bogeys and a big number dropped him down to seven over and card a 79.

Jakob Chapman rounded out the counting scores for the Golden Wolves and posted an 82 and is in 26th place. Chapman recorded eight pars and a birdie but also saw big numbers saw him card a ten over 82.

Matt Davies posted a day one score of 87 and is in 28th place. Davies carded five pars and two birdies on the day but big numbers and bogeys plagued his round and saw him post an 87 on the day.

Alvernia is back in action tomorrow for day two of the tournament at Golden Oaks Golf Club at 10:30 AM.
