Hoovler, Williams Earn All-MAC Commonwealth Honors at the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf Championships

Fleetwood, Pa (May 4, 2025) - Jackson Hoovler and Shawn Williams led Alvernia University with top five finishes at the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships Sunday at Golden Oaks Golf Club. 

Jackson Hoovler carded a day two score of 77 and finished in fourth place to earn First Team All-MAC Commonwealth. Shawn Williams fired in the low round of the day for the Golden Wolves with a one under 71 to improve five strokes from round one and finish in a tie for fifth place and earn First Team All-MAC Commonwealth. 

The Golden Wolves finished in fifth place with a two day total of 616 (306/310). 

Jackson Hoovler carded three pars and three bogeys in his first six holes but straightened things out with three straight pars to end his front nine and card a three over 39 on the front. Hoovler bogeyed ten but bounced back with back to back birdies on 11 and 12. Hoovler recorded two pars on 14 and 15 but then saw a bogey and a big number on 16 and 17 derail the back nine but he bounced back with a tournament-ending birdie on the 18th to finish with a 77 and in fourth place for the weekend. Hoovler finished the tournament with a two-day total of 146. 

Shawn Williams recorded the best score of the day for Alvernia with an one under 71 and finished in a tie for fifth place finish. Williams started his day with a par but then doubled the second hole to drop to two over par but he bounced back with a birdie at three and five and ripped off four straight pars to close the front nine and post an even par 36. Williams then continued to play steady golf on the back nine and tallied eight pars and a birdie on 11 to finish with a 35 on the back and card a day two low round of 71. Williams finished with a two day total of 147. 

Matthew Gagliardi finished in a tie for 17th place and carded a 77 on day two and finished with a two day total of 156. Gagliardi started with two bogeys in his first three holes but then bounced back with four pars and a birdie in his final six holes to card a 38 on the front nine. Gagliardi then saw a few bogeys and big numbers plague his back nine but responded with three pars and two birdies on the back nine to post a 39 and card a 77 on the day. 

Jakob Chapman tallied a day two score of 85 and finished in a tie for 26th place with a two day total of 167. Chapman carded four pars on the front nine but also carded a few bogeys and posted a 41 on the front nine. Chapman then recorded four pars in his first five holes on the back nine but then carded a few bogeys and doubles to end his round and post a 44 on the back nine and a 85 on the day. 

Matt Davies rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves on day two of the championships and also carded an 85. Davies finished in 28th place and recorded a two day total of 172. Davies carded one par and two birdies on the front nine but also carded a few big numbers and posted a 46 on the front nine. Davies then made the turn and carded four pars and a birdie on 18 to record a 39 on the back nine and an 85 on the day. 

The championship marks the end of the 2024-2025 season for the Golden Wolves.
