Fleetwood, Pa. (April 26, 2026) - Alvernia University concluded its 2025-2026 season at the 2026 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships Sunday at Golden Oaks Golf Club.
Shawn Williams fired in the low round of 76 for Alvernia on Sunday and finished in a tie for 14th place and the Golden Wolves finished in 5th place overall with a two day total of 639.
Conclusion of Round 1:
The Golden Wolves concluded the first round of the MAC Championships on Sunday morning at 8:00 AM after play was suspended Saturday due to course conditions from the rain that fell throughout the day.
Alvernia is in fifth place after a round one score of 330. Stevenson leads the way after round one with a score of 307 and holds a one shot lead over York College. The Mustangs also hold the top two individual spots with Zachary Wilcon shooting a one under round of 71 in round one and Ryan Thomas carding a two over round of 74.
Chase Smith recorded the best finish for the Golden Wolves in round one and is in a tie for 13th place with a round one score of 81. Smith recorded a 38 on the front and a 43 on the back nine.
Zachary Neuin followed Smith and finished his first round in a tie for 16th place with a score of 82. Neuin carded a 39 on the front nine and a 43 on the back en route to the 82.
Shawn Williams is in a tie for 18th place after the conclusion of round one and recorded a score of 83. Williams carded a 42 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine.
Matthew Overholt finished his first round with an 84 and is in a tie for 21st place. Overholt carded a 38 on the front nine but then posted a 46 on the back nine.
Jacob DeWitt rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves and posted an 84 as well in round one. DeWitt carded a 38 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine and is currently in a tie for 21st place.
Round 2:
Shawn Williams led the Golden Wolves in round two of the MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships and fired in a four over round of 76 on Sunday. Williams posted a 39 on the front nine with seven pars including starting his round with five straight pars. Williams then recorded a one over 37 on the back nine with five pars and birdies at the 15th and 17th en route to the 76. Williams finished his final Commonwealth Championships in a tie for 14th place with a two day total of 159. Williams finished his Alvernia career as a two time First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honoree and an Academic All-MAC selection.
Jacob DeWitt fired in a second round score of 77 on Sunday and finished his championships in a tie for 19th with a two-day total of 161. DeWitt carded an even par 36 on the front nine after seven pars and a birdie at the seventh. DeWitt then posted a 41 on the back nine with five pars en route to the 77.
Matthew Overholt also carded a 77 in round two and also finished in a tie for 19th place with a two day total of 161. Overholt posted a four over 40 on the front nine with four pars and a birdie at the third. Overholt doubled the tenth but responded with five pars and birdies at the 12th and 17th en route to a one over 37 on the back nine to post a 77 on the day.
Zachary Neuin shot 79 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 19th place with a two day total of 161. Neuin carded a 39 on the front nine and birdied the fifth and carded five pars. Neuin then posted a 40 on the back nine with birdies at the 13th and 18th en route to the round two score of 79.
Chase Smith rounded out the Golden Wolves with an 82 in round two and finished in 24th place and finished with a two day total of 163. Smith recorded a 42 on the front nine with six pars and improved to shoot a 40 on the back nine and also carded five pars en route to the round of 82.
The Championships marked the end of the season for the Golden Wolves.
