Reading, Pa ( Oct. 27, 2013 ) -The Crusaders ( 8-2-1 ) pounced on Widener University early with four first period goals en route to a 11-1 win.
The win featured eight different goal scorer's for Alvernia concluding a two-game set which totaled twenty goals combined in the Shippensburg and Widener wins.
Sean Mullen ( Lincoln University / Oxford Area HS ) led the offensive explosion with his second two goal night of the weekend.
Jim McKelvie (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) notched another two-goal night which added to his 8-point weekend. Sophomore defenseman Brett Fernandes ( Marlton, NJ / Cherokee HS )Â chipped in his second goal of the year with a clean winner from just inside the blue line.
Widener only managed eight shots which is the fewest shots ever faced for the Vern. Goaltender
James Bangar ( Whittier, Ca. / La Mirada HS ) faced eight shots only surrendering a lone goal late in the third period. Bangar recorded his second victory of the season both over the Widener Pride.
Crusader hockey continues again next Friday night at home vs. University of Delaware and Saturday vs. Farmingdale State on Long Island.
