Mt. Wolf, Pa. (Mar. 20, 2021) – Junior
Luke Fagley shot a personal best 2-under 70 to earn low medalist honors and lead Alvernia University to a 300 team total and second place out of eight teams at the York Invitational Saturday afternoon hosted by Royal Manchester Golf Club.
It's Fagley's 11th career top 10 finish and his first individual title. He was tied for the lead after Day One of the 2019 Spartan Invitational at Royal Manchester before slipping to fourth on day two.
On Saturday, Fagley made two birdies and 16 pars on the day with his most stressful par coming at the par 4 18th. His approach found the greenside bunker and he splashed it out to six feet. The right-to-left putt caught the lip on the low side and circled in for the save.
Sophomore
Jack Lynam made birdie at the last to finish ninth at 75.
Jake Duffy was a stroke outside the top 10 at 77, and
Kyung Chung rounded out the counting scores with a 78.
Fagley pared the first two holes then go to red figures with a birdie from the fringe and the par 5 3rd. He ran off five straight pars from there then got up and down for birdie at the par 5 9th. He made eight straight fairly stress free pars on the back before closing with the sandy at 18.
Lynam also made birdie at the 9th and was 2-over at the turn. He rolled in a birdie at 10 and had a look at three straight with a good ball into the par 3 11th. He drove the par 4 13th and 2-putted for birdie and closed his round hitting a wedge to 3-feet at 18.
Duffy was steady all day posting 38-39 and Chung rebounded from a 41 front nine to shoot 1-over 37 on the back.
York won the team title shooting 299.
Alvernia returns to action Tuesday when it hosts a small invitational at Ledgerock.
