Kyung Chung, the defending MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, sits in third place at +2, and Alvernia sits in third place as a team with a first round score of 317 after the first day of the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championship at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa.
After starting his day off with a bogey on one, Chung carded back-to-back birdies on two and third to go 1-under on his day. The remainder of Chung's front nine hit a few bumps as the senior shot 4-over on the opening nine.
Chung then started off his back nine with three birdies on four holes. Chung would close out his round with back-to-back bogies to sit at +2 going into the final round tomorrow.
Luke Fagley finished day one in second for Alvernia and sits at t-9th overall. Fagley carded two birdies on his round, both on par 5s, as well as nine pars to finish at +6.
Jack Lynam finished one stroke back of Fagley at +7 to sit at t-12th going into tomorrow. Lynam shot 2-over on the front nine and 5-over on the back.
Rounding out Alvernia's scores for day one was Joe Polidoro with a +14. Polidoro finished with nine pars and sits t-23rd.
Jake Duffy carded two birdies on his round, but finished his day at +15 and t-26th.
York College was one of three teams that couldn't conclude its round due to darkness. But, the Spartans sit in first place at +8 as a team.
Riley Rohlfs of York sits in first place overall at -2.
The teams that didn't finish today will head out onto the course at 10 AM to finish out their first rounds. Round Two then gets underway at 12 PM, with Alvernia teeing off in the final pairings beginning at 1:21 PM.
