Lebanon, Pa. (April 25, 2021) - Alvernia Men's Golf, paced by
Kyung Chung, finished in third place with a team score of 640 at the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championship, held at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa.
Chung took First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors with a t-4th place finish and two day score of 153. Luke Fagley earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors with a 7th place finish and two day score of 155.
Chung shot a 79 on day two of the tournament. He started his day off with a bogey on one, but put up back-to-back birdies on two and three. Chung ran into trouble on four with a bogey, and then doubled the par-3 fifth. Chung then carded three straight pars, but three-putted the ninth to close out his front nine at 3-over 39. Chung then shot 4-over on the back nine to finish at 79 on the day.
Chung's First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors are the second of his career. Chung earned Player of the Year and first team honors in 2019.
Fagley shot a 77 on day two of the tournament. Fagley doubled the first hole of the afternoon, but then put up two straight pars. He then went bogey-birdie-bogey on holes four-six. He pared the seventh, bogied the eighth, and pared the ninth for a 4-over 40 on the front nine. After bogies on the 11th and 14th, Fagley birdied the 16th to get a shot back. He pared his final two holes for the round of 77.
Jack Lynam finished third for Alvernia and t-12th overall with a second round score of 80 for a two-day score of 159. Lynam carded three birdies to highlight his second round. He birdied the par 3 5th, par 4 10th, and par 5 16th. He finished his round with seven pars.
Jake Duffy rounded out Alvernia's counting scores with a second day round of 87 for a two-day total of 174 and a t-31 finish. Duffy's round was highlighted by eight pars.
Joe Polidoro finished as Alvernia's fifth, finishing t-31 with Duffy. Polidor's round was highlighted by two birdies, including a birdie on the par 3 5th where Polidoro placed his tee shot within inches of the pin.
Alvernia finished with a two-day team total of 640.
York College took the team title with a total score of 610. Stevenson took second place with a team score of 632.
Riley Rohlfs of York took Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors following a first place finish with a two-day total of 149.
York will represent the MAC Commonwealth at the Division III National Championship in Wheeling, West Viriginia.Â
