Gaston and Rivera-Jusino Compete at Ocean Breeze

Staten Island, New York (Dec. 1, 2023) - Alvernia University Indoor Track and Field had two athletes compete at the Ocean Breeze Fastrack Invitational on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.

Graduate Student Cera Gaston opened her indoor season with a school record performance in the 5,000 meter. Gaston ran an 18:41.23 to take first place in the event and break the previous Alvernia record by over 30 seconds. 

Sophomore thrower Giovanni Rivera-Jusino also competed for the Golden Wolves on Friday. Rivera-Jusino took 18th place in the weight throw with a mark of 11.14 meters and 20th in the shot put with a mark of 11.15 meters. 

Alvernia Track and Field is back in action tomorrow at the Lehigh University Mountain Hawk Opener.
