Golden Wolves Take on Widener Invitational

Chester, Pa. (Jan. 25, 2025) - Alvernia Women's Track and Field competed at the Widener Invitational on Friday and Saturday, at both the University of Penn and the campus of Widener University.

Mylina Castillo was Alvernia's top finisher of the meet, taking fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.46m. That mark was good for a new season-best for Castillo, and currently ranks her in the top 20 in Division III.

Britney Anyia also had a top-ten finish in her collegiate debut, taking seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.20m. That mark makes Anyia the fourth best performer in the long jump in Alvernia Women's Indoor Track and Field history.

Rosnelly Sanchez De Aza took 20th in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:29.51. Paige Jerrahian set a new personal record in the 800m with a time of 2:31.54 to take 23rd.

Caitlin Sternberg took 13th in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.98 seconds, and Giavanni Gibson took 22nd in the same event with a time of 10.45 seconds for a new season-best.

Elisabeth Schwarz rounded things out on the track for Alvernia with a 29th place finish in the 200m with a time of 27.66 seconds.

Isabella Lesko and Mikayla Giuliano competed in the shot put for Alvernia on Saturday at Widener. Lesko led Alvernia with a 27th place mark of 9.37m, and Giuliano took 34th with a mark of 8.99m

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at home at the Alvernia PLEX Shootout.
