Sharp, VanSchaick Lead Golden Wolves at West Chester’s Purple & Gold Open

West Chester, Pa (March 22, 2025) - Brandon VanSchaick recorded a third place finish in the 400m hurdles and Grant Sharp recorded three top six finishes to lead Alvernia at West Chester University's Purple & Gold Open Saturday afternoon.

Grant Sharp tallied three top six finishes in the discus, hammer throw and the shot put. Sharp recorded a fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a 37.16m mark. Sharp then recorded a 35.59m mark in the discus to secure fifth place and capped his day off with a sixth place finish in shot put with a 12.19m mark.

Brandon VanSchaick recorded a third place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.02.

Leo Tirado tallied two top seven finishes in the long jump and the high jump. Tirado finished fourth in the high jump with a 1.85m mark and also recorded a seventh place finish in the long jump with a 6.02m mark.

James Henry, Ryan Dennison and Sam Martinez all recorded personal best times in the 1,500m and Henry recorded a sixth place finish with a time of 4:16.68. Martinez posted a personal best time of 4:21.18, besting his previous time by 15 seconds and finished in 13th place. Dennison recorded a personal best time of 4:30.97 and bested his previous personal best by just under eight seconds.

Timothy Van Klingeren recorded a 33.50m mark in the discus and finished in eighth place and Andrew LeClair posted a ninth place finish in the long jump with a 5.78m mark.

Alvernia is back in action next weekend when they travel to Widener University for the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
