Alvernia Falls to Eastern, 12-5

BOX SCORE St. David's, Pa. (Apr. 16, 2025) - Eastern University (6-8, 2-2) held Alvernia University (6-7, 0-4) scoreless in the first half en route to a 12-5 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Eastern. 

The Eagles led 8-0 at the half. Alvernia outscored the Eagles 5-4 in the second half, but Eastern's first half lead was too much for Alvernia to overcome.

How it Happened
  • Eastern jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the half, scoring five goals in the first quarter and adding three more in the second quarter. 
  • After taking a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes of the third quarter, Colin McFadyen put Alvernia on the board on a goal off the assist of Peter Capasso with 9:39 to play in the quarter. Alvernia then made it a 9-2 game with Christian Wright scoring off a caused turnover with six minutes to play in the quarter. The Eagles scored the final goal of the quarter to take a 10-2 lead into the fourth.
  • Alvernia scored two goals in under thirty seconds to make it a 10-4 game with 12:50 to play in the game. Ryan Gilman scored Alvernia's third of the game off the assist of Ethan McManus. McManus then scored himself off the faceoff win by Jack Kenney to make it a 10-4 game.
  • A goal from Peter Capasso cut the Eastern lead in half, 10-5, with 10:21 to play, but Eastern pushed it back to a six-goal game, 11-5, with just over nine minutes to play. The Eagles made it a 12-5 game with 1:21 to play, and held Alvernia off for the final minute to take the 12-5 win.
