Doylestown, Pa. (Apr. 23, 2012) - Junior
Tim Pici (Malvern, Pa./West Chester East) shot 10-over 82 Monday afternoon to earn low medalist honors--the first of his career--and lead Alvernia University to a 334 team total and first place at the Delaware Valley College Dual match hosted by Lookaway Golf Club.
The Crusaders took each of the top five places with
Casey Osborne (Lititz, Pa./Warwick),
Justin Arnt (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO), and
Scott Downes (Sinking Spring, Pa./High Point Baptist) all carding 84s and
Bobby Ranken (Mount Holly, N.J./Rancocas Valley) shot 85. Delaware Valley shot 356 led by Tim Kelly at 86.
Pici opened his day with three straight bogies and was a total of eight over through his first 11 holes. He started a string of six straight pars at the par 4 12th and closed with a double at 18. Arnt, Downes, and Osborne all had a birdie apiece. Arnt went 43-41 while Downes and Osborne put up matching 42s on the front and back nines.
Alvernia had the full roster out Monday playing for the top four scores. Matt Tirpak (Tom's River, N.J./Tom's River North) shot 88,
Lucien Staquet (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) shot 89,
Chris Van Natta (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) finished with a 90, and
Corey Crafford (Princeton, N.J./Lawrence) had 98.
The Crusaders turn right around and head out to the Messiah Invitational Tuesday.
Alvernia Wins At Delaware Valley
