Alvernia Opens Outdoor Season at Lynchburg

Lynchburg, Va. (March 23, 2024) - Alvernia University Men's Track and Field got its outdoor season underway this weekend at the Lynchburg University Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitational.

The Golden Wolves had seven top-20 finishes in the field of nearly 30 teams. Alvernia also had seven individual personal records set in the opening weekend of the outdoor season.

Highlights and Personal Records:

Kyle Schermerhorn took 15th place in the 5,000m with a time of 15:52.62
Brandon VanSchaick took 15th place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.94
Luke St. Pierre took 15th place in 200m with a personal record time of 23.02
Jack Short took 17th place in the 100m with a time of 11.30
James Henry set a new personal record in the 1,500m with a time of 4:18.64, which was good for 38th place.
Elisiah Jerome set a new personal record in the 100m dash with a time of 11.61 for a 39th place finish.
Ryan Dennison set two new personal records. He took 59th place in the 1,500m with a PR time of 4:40.77. He also set a PR in the 800m with a time of 2:15.43 for an 81st place finish.
Cory Gray finished in 20th in the discus with a personal record throw of 35.55m and also had a 16th place finish in the shot put with a PR throw of 13.55m
The Men's 4x400m relay team Elisiah Jerome, Zachary Wendel, Luke St. Pierre, and Spencer Hahn took fifth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:27.17
