Cera Gaston Leads Alvernia Track and Field at Shippensburg

Shippensburg, Pa. (April 27, 2024) - Cera Gaston's first place finish in the 3,000m highlighted Alvernia Women's and Men's Track and Field's day at the Shippensburg University Paul Kaiser Invitational on Saturday.

Gaston's first place finish in the 3,000m, which also marked a program record in the event, was one of nine top-ten finishes between the men's and women's programs on Saturday. Alvernia's men finished with six top-ten finishes, along with five new personal records. Alvernia's women had three top-ten finishes and five new personal records.

Personal Records and Highlights

Gaston ran a 10:18.77 to take first place by 50 seconds. She also set a new personal and program record by over 30 seconds.
Alvernia's women's 4x400m relay team made up of Mylina Castillo, Rosnelly Sanchez de Aza, Paige Jerrahian and Jessie Torres ran a season best time of 4:18.14 to take third place.
Alvernia's women's 4x100m relay team also had a top-ten finish with a season best time of 51.95.
Anthony Downs took eighth in the 100m with a time of 11.24 seconds.
Spencer Hahn took ninth in the 400m with a personal record time of 50.79 seconds.
Kameron Dove took ninth in the high jump with a personal record mark of 1.88m.
Luke St. Pierre took tenth in the 200m with a personal record time of 22.65 seconds.
The men's 4x400m relay team took 10th with a time of 3:42.91.
Alexander Witmer took tenth in the shot put with a mark of 13.69m.
Brandon VanSchaick ran a 16.48 in the 110m hurdles to set a new personal record.
Grant Sharp threw a 37.00 even in the discus to take 17th with a new personal record.
Elizabeth Kavulak took 38th in the 200m with a personal record time of 28.46 seconds.
Isabella Lesko and Maria Skulski each set new personal records in the discus. Lesko threw a 29.28m, and Skulski threw a 28.27m.
Elizabeth Kollock threw a new personal record in the javelin with a throw of 25.04 meters.
