Golden Wolves Compete at Widener Last Chance Qualifier

Chester, Pa. (May 14, 2024) - Members of the Alvernia Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Widener Last Chance Qualifier on Monday at Widener University.

Alvernia had three personal records fall, four top-eight finishes, and a new school record set in its final competition of the regular season.

Cera Gaston took 7th in the 5,000m with a personal and school record time of 17:25.42. JAck Short set a new personal record in the 100m with a 15th place time of 11.09, and Grant Sharp threw a new personal record in the shot put with a mark of 12.73m for a 13th place finish.

Caitlin Sternberg and Isabella Lesko each had third place finishes for the Golden Wolves. Sternberg ran a 16.16 in the 100m hurdles, and Lesko threw a 33.81 mark in the javelin.

Brandon VanSchaick rounded out Alvernia's top-eight finishes with a 400m hurdle time of 57.37 seconds.

A small group of Alvernia athletes will head to SUNY Cortland tomorrow and Thursday for the 2024 AARFTC Outdoor Regional Championship.
