Men's Track and Field Takes on Widener Invitational

Chester, Pa. (Jan. 25, 2025) - Alvernia Men's Track and Field competed at the Widener Invitational on Friday and Saturday, at both the University of Penn and the campus of Widener University.

Ryan Dennison and Sam Martinez both posted indoor personal records in the one mile for Alvernia. Martinez broke his PR by about five seconds for a 34th place time of 4:45.21. Ryan Dennison also broke his PR by nine seconds for a 40th place run of 4:50.26.

Spencer Hahn and Brandon VanSchaick each had top-20 finishes for Alvernia in the 400m and 60m Hurdles, respectively. Hahn took 20th in the 400m with a time of 51.74 seconds, just over a tenth of a second off his personal best. VanSchaick took 20th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.36 seconds.

Zackary Wendel posted a new season-best in the 800m with a time of 2:04.42, and Anthony Downs rounded things out on the track for Alvernia with a 27th place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.22 seconds, which was also a new season-best.

Grant Sharp led Alvernia in the shot put, taking 14th on a personal-record mark of 13.23m. Sheadon Carr also competed in the shot put, and took 36th with a mark of 11.30m.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at home at the Alvernia PLEX Shootout.
