St. Pierre Smashes Records to Lead Alvernia at Widener

Philadelphia, Pa. (Feb. 15, 2025) - Alvernia University graduate student Luke St. Pierre had a record-setting day for Alvernia to lead the Golden Wolves at the Widener Indoor Classic, hosted on the campus of University of Penn.

St. Pierre set two individual records and was a member of the 4x400m relay team, which broke a record as well.

St. Pierre started the day breaking an indoor record nearly as old as Alvernia's Track and Field program in the 400m. St. Pierre ran a 51.21 to break the record of 51.47 set by Donald Osborne in December of 2009.

St. Pierre then followed that with another record-breaking performance in the 200m. St. Pierre ran a 22.69 to break a 12 year old record of 22.79 set by Ricky Bruno in 2013.

St. Pierre then capped off the day anchoring Alvernia's 4x400m relay team, which also set a new program record. St. Pierre was joined by Anthony Downs, Zackary Wendel, and Spencer Hahn to break the program record by nearly three seconds as Alvernia posted a 3:28.52.

Zackary Wendel posted a personal-record for Alvernia in the 800m with a time of 2:00.80 to take 30th place. Sheadon Carr also posted a PR in the shot put with a mark of 12.78m to take 30th place as well.

Spencer Hahn took 11th place in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:57.54 to finish as Alvernia's top individual finisher of the event.

Alvernia is off next weekend in preparation for the 2025 MAC Indoor Championship, hosted at Alvernia beginning on February 28th.
