Wendel, Hahn Lead Alvernia at Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, Pa. (Feb. 7, 2025) - Alvernia University Men's Track and Field had three first place finishes and 12 new personal-records set on Friday night at the Susquehanna University Riverhawk Showdown.

Alvernia's Spencer Hahn and Zackary Wendel took first place as individuals, and Alvernia's Men's Distance Medley Relay team also took first.

Spencer Hahn took first place in the mile with a personal-record time of 4:30.6. Hahn finished just five seconds off the Alvernia record in just his second time racing the event collegiately.

Sam Martinez took eighth in the mile with a personal-record time of 4:40.6, shaving five seconds off his previous PR. Martinez also took third in the 3,000m with a new personal-record time of 9:36.6. Ryan Dennison also set a new personal-record time in the 3,000m with a 9:48.4 finish for sixth place.

Zackary Wendel took first place in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:03.6. Wendel was also part of Alvernia's first place DMR team, which took first with a time of 11:49.5. Esteban Schodowski, Younes Naimi, and James Henry were also part of the DMR team.

Leo Tirado led Alvenria's showing in the field events, taking third place in the high jump with a personal-record mark of 1.89m. Tirado also took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.07m and seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 12.61m.

Alvernia also had top-eight finishes from Andrew Simmons in the 60m (7.21, 8th place), and Grant Sharp in the shot put (13.09m, 7th place).

Sheadon Carr and Aiden Chumas posted personal records in the shot put, with Carr taking 9th on a mark of 11.66m and Chumas taking 16th with a mark of 10.74m. Joseph Washington also set a personal-record in the 200m with a time of 24.40 seconds.

Alvernia is back in action next weekend at Nazareth and Widener.
