Gaston Sets New 5,000m Record to Lead Alvernia at Night One of Bucknell Bison Open and Multi

Lewisburg, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2024) - Cera Gaston led Alvernia University's showing at Bucknell University on Friday night for the first day of the Bucknell Bison Open and Multi.

Gaston raced a university record 18:35.71 in the 5,000m - bettering her own record by six seconds - to take first in the field of seven.

Caitlin Sternberg and Elisabeth Schwarz also raced for Alvernia on the women's side. Sternberg took 17th in the 60m hurdles with a season-best time of 9.91. Schwarz took 37th in the 200m with a time of 28.20.

On the men's side, Kyle Schermerhorn took eighth in the field of 16 in the 5,000m with a time of 16:05.36.

Brandon VanSchaick led Alvernia in the 60m hurdles with 21st place time of 9.49.

Luke St. Pierre led Alvernia's field of four in the 200m with a 25th place time of 23.37.
