Hahn, Downs Lead Alvernia at Millersville

Millersville, Pa. (Apr. 5, 2025) - Spencer Hahn and Anthony Downs were two of 14 top-ten finishes for Alvernia Men's Track and Field at the Millersville Metrics Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Millersville University. 

Hahn was Alvernia's top-finisher of the day with a second place finish in the 1,500. Hahn posted a time of 4:06.02. James Henry also took an eighth place finish in the same event, and posted a personal-record in the process with a time of 4:12.72. Zackary Wendel took ninth with a time of 4:14.67. Samuel Martinez took 11th and posted a personal-record time of 4:19.30.

Anthony Downs led Alvernia's sprinters on Saturday, taking third place in the 100m with a time of 11.18. Downs qualified for the final on a time of 11.32. Andrew Simmons took sixth in the 100 with a time of 11.32, and Luke St. Pierre took eighth with a time of 11.28.

Elisiah Jerome took tenth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.18, and Brandon VanSchaick took sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.18. Alvernia's 4x100m relay team took eighth with a time of 46 flat to round out Alvernia's top-ten performances on the track.

Leo Tirado was Alvernia's top field finisher of the day, taking fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m.  Jalen Anderson took eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.10m, and Quinn Harter took ninth with a mark of 11.72m. Andrew LeClair took ninth for Alvernia in the long jump with a mark of 5.86, setting a new personal-record. Harter took 22nd with a new PR mark of 5.00m.

Alvernia's throwers posted four new personal-records on the day. Grant Sharp broke his discus PR with a mark of 38.53m, and William Knapp broke his PR in the javelin with a throw of 42.27m. Sheadon Carr set a new PR in the shot put with a mark of 11.59, and Timothy Van Klingeren set a new PR in the hammer with a mark of 23.99m.

Alvernia is back in action next weekend at the Messiah University Invitational.
