Anthony Recker dominated the diamond for the Crusaders.  After a stellar four-year career he was drafted by the Oakland A’s in the 18th round in 2005.  His name is all over the Alvernia record book.  He is the leader in games played and second only to Hall of Famer Todd Meyer in home runs with 44, and RBIs with 214. Recker is third in hits with 247, and fourth in runs with 189 and slugging at .715.  He was four-time All-PAC, was named Rookie of the Year in 2002, and is one of seven Alvernia student-athletes to be a two-time PAC Player of the Year. In his senior year, Recker was ranked in the top 10 nationally in slugging percentage, batting average, and home runs.

Recker’s professional playing career started in the summer of ’05 in Vancouver.  He was named an All-Star in each of his first three seasons.  In 2006 he posted the ninth best batting average in the A’s minor league system, hitting .287 for the Midland Rockhounds, and the following year was fifth in home runs as a member of the Stockton Ports.  Recker made his major league debut on August 25, 2011, in Yankee Stadium.  After two years with the A’s, Recker finished 2012 with the Chicago Cubs and was picked up by the New York Mets before the 2013 season.  In three seasons with the Mets he has played in 140 games with 15 home runs, and 51 RBIs. This past season, Recker joined the Atlanta Braves, appearing in 33 games. He posted 25 hits, including eight doubles and 15 RBI.
