Dave Samsel was the first 1,000 point scorer in Alvernia basketball history.  He reached the milestone in a victory over rival Cabrini College during the 1978-79 season.  At the time of his induction Samsel was sixth all-time in scoring at Alvernia with 1,643 career points.  At that time he still held the record for most points scored in a game with 52.
