Laura Gingrich

Gingrich spent 27 years with Alvernia Athletics which dates back to the 1999 field hockey season when she took over at the helm. Gingrich spent 24 seasons as the head field hockey coach, amassing 292 career wins including 131 victories in conference play. Gingrich also led 14 Alvernia teams to playoff appearances, won two conference championships and made three NCAA tournament appearances. Gingrich spent 22 years as an administrator at Alvernia between the years of 2000-2022 and served as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women’s Administrator beginning in 2000 before being promoted to Associate Athletic Director in 2004. Gingrich also served as the Interim Director of Athletics in 2008-2009 and oversaw the transition of Alvernia from the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and oversaw the completion of Alvernia’s turf field and the construction of Angelica Park. Gingrich led Alvernia field hockey to PAC titles in 2005 and 2007, four MAC Commonwealth title games and won the ECAC Championship four times, most recently in 2024. During her time on the sideline, Gingrich coached 82 all-conference honorees, 29 all-region honorees and 14 All-Americans. In addition, she coached 12 conference players or rookies of the year and was named coach of the year twice herself in 2006 and 2011. 


Gingrich was inducted into the Berks County Hall of Fame and served on the Executive Board as the Secretary. In retirement, she enjoyed time with family, especially her three granddaughters, working on DIY home projects, enjoying the outdoors and, of course, following the Golden Wolves Field Hockey team.
