Hall of Fame
Kindra Lewis is perhaps the most inspiring student-athlete to ever wear the maroon and gold.
Kindra was a volleyball student-athlete from 1999-2002. She is still the career leader in sets played, kills, hitting percentage, aces, solo blocks, and assisted blocks.
She was a four-time member of the All-PAC First team. Kindra and fellow Hall of Famer Todd Meyer are the only two student-athletes in our 16-year history in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference to be named First Team all four years.
In late October of 2000, Reading Eagle reporter Julie Pelchar wrote an article about Kindra as a preview to that Fall’s PAC Championships where the Crusaders were seeded third and set to host Cedar Crest College for a quarterfinal. That was the first time many people on campus even realized that Kindra was battling cancer. She went about her education and her work and her sport in such a positive and thankful manner that it was impossible to see her battle with illness.
Unfortunately we lost Kindra in November on 2008. That December her daughter Tyeasha accepted her diploma from Dr. Flynn right here in the same gym where she left such a lasting mark as student-athlete. The following October she was awarded the ECAC Award of Valor which is given to a student-athlete whose courage, motivation, and relentless determination serve as an inspiration.
