Team members of the 83 team are: Glenn Meck, John Robinson, Anthony Scharle, Jeff Smith, Greg Stocker, Lou Topper, and Steve Westley.  I would invite you to join me and Dr. Flynn on stage.

Men’s Golf made its Alvernia debut in the early 80s, and the 1983 team claimed Alvernia’s first team championship. The team captured the NAIA District 19 golf tournament, held at Laurel Oaks Country Club in Voorhees, New Jersey, under the coaching of John Yocum--an original inductee into the Alvernia Hall of Fame--and behind low-medalist winner Lou Topper, who was the second individual golfer inducted into the Alvernia Hall of Fame.

Winning the regional championship meant the team earned the bid to advance to the NAIA national tournament in Saginaw, Michigan, but due to a lack of available funds, they were unable to make the trip to the national championship.
